David is the original founder of Goodmans Chartered Accountants, which merged with Agilis CA in 2024 and now operates as Agilis CA Cairns.
David began his career at Ernst & Young in Brisbane, working in audit with a range of local and international clients. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), registered Tax Agent, and holds multiple diplomas in Financial Planning and Mortgage Broking. His qualifications also include a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from QUT and registration as a Local Government Auditor and Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
With decades of experience, David has built a strong reputation for providing expert advice to small businesses across Australia and overseas. His areas of expertise include taxation, audit, financial reporting, corporate advisory, and financial planning.
David is actively involved in the Cairns community, having held various leadership roles in organisations including the Cairns Historical Society, Cairns Hockey Association, Trinity Anglican School, and Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club.
David enjoys using his jet ski (high speed thrills), travel to unusual locations around the world (drifting cars on frozen lakes in northern Finland and seeing ice and snow festivals at -33 Celsius in north east China). Having crossed the Arctic circle, he now wants to cross into Antarctica.
