I have private health insurance, why do I still have to pay the Medicare Levy?
Ans (Rika from Affinitas)
Having the correct private health insurance stops you having to pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge if your income is over the threshold.
The Medicare Levy is payable by almost everyone, the most common exceptions being low income earners, foreign residents and those in the defence force.
